WOW!

The last two weekends in October were filled with special activities for our church family.

Special thanks to many people who made these events so successful:

  • the Long Range Planning Committee for organizing the Homecoming and Bring a Friend Sunday and the wonderful lunch following the worship service.

  • those who invited friends or encouraged less active church members to attend worship that day

  • the many people who provided a wide variety of delicious food for the buffet lunch

  • the Auction Committee of the Trustees, and especially the committee chair, Irene Hofmann, for planning the Ham and Bean Supper with Silent and Live Auctions.  This was a great evening of food, entertainment, and profit for the church.  The net proceeds totaled $ 6,251.

  • those who helped set up and put away all the tables, chairs, and other equipment needed for the event.

  • those who cooked, served, and cleaned up the supper part of the evening.

  • to all  who donated items for the auction, bid on auction items, or made contributions to the fund raising event.

  •  six people who chose to become official members of our church on October 30th. Five of these were baptized on that day.

Both of these weekends required a lot of planning and coordination, and were enjoyed by many.  As I reflected on these events, I realized that we have spent time in worship, study, and business, but haven't spent much time in fellowship recently.  While we may not plan something on such a large scale for a little while, we need to arrange (and participate in) more social activities as a church family.

If you have any suggestions for what you as a church family member would enjoy doing with other family members, please speak with me or the Moderator, Judy Dean.
