As I write this there are exactly two months until Christmas. Can you believe it? Where has the year gone? And looking ahead, what are we going to be doing in the next sixty days? The months of November and December are often the busiest in our homes, as well as our church. This year the busy season started a little early as we observed some very special events during October - a dedication of parents and children (Barbara and Charles Brown with the children Charles Jr. and Samantha); the baptism of nine believers (Dorothy and Lucille Berry, Peggy Blum, Launa Cooper, Kyle and Ryan Finch, Ngobitak Ndiwane, Shawn Smith and James Workman); a Fall Family Festival of delicious food and fun activities; and the anticipated welcome of eight people into official church membership at the end of the month. We will also dedicate our White Cross on October 29. During the early part of November we will focus on stewardship - the management of our God-given gifts of time, talent and treasure. Both the Nominating and Stewardship Committees will be encouraging each of us to prayerfully consider how we can use these gifts through our congregation to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Later in the month we will reflect on the meaning of Thanksgiving and have the opportunity to share out of our abundance with others. An ingathering of food will take place on Sunday, November 19 to help provide Thanksgiving dinners for families in need. November concludes as we begin our preparation for the Advent and Christmas seasons by decorating the church after the worship service on November 26. Lunch will be provided by the Board of Christian Education. As we think about the holidays ... there will be two special musical programs to be presented in our church on December. Sunday, December 3 at 2:30 p.m. Mr. John Howell, professional violinist, will present a piano quartet concert in memory of his mother, Marion Howell in Judson Chapel; and on Sunday, December 10, our church will sponsor the annual Festival of Carols in the sanctuary at 5:00 p.m. Plan to participate in as many of these exciting activities as possible. See you at church! Pastor Martha Dominy
