Seasonal Changes

Many of us who live in New England claim that we enjoy the seasonal changes of the area, even though we may grumble and wish for a different season than the one we experience at any particular time.  Imagine how stagnant our lives would be if there was never any change.  It has been said that change is good for the soul.

Throughout the Bible, we read instructions about changing our attitudes and behavior, Jesus said, "Unless you change  and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matt 18:3).  But what are we supposed to change, and how are we supposed to do it?  The Apostle Paul wrote: "Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind.  Then you will be able to know the will of God - what is good and is pleasing to Him and is perfect" (Romans 12:2).

We live in challenging and changing times.  While a little variety often does spice up our lives, it is always good to know that we can rely on some stability in our lives, as well.  As we look at the church calendar we realize that our program year has drawn to a close and we are entering the summer months when some activities are in recess, other seasonal ones are offered, and some continue unchanged.

While the Sanctuary Choir and Sunday School are not meeting during summer, we will have worship and educational opportunities.  During July and August, worship will be at 10:00 a.m. in the Parlor.  Bible Study will continue to meet on Tuesdays and a Vacation bible School for children will be held the second week in August.

The Feeding Ministry, with a change of menu, will continue throughout the summer, as we provide a free meal through Bread of Life on the third Friday of each month.  (Our church building is open every Friday evening for BOL's meal.)

The Social Committee also has events planned throughout the summer.

If you will be home during the summer, plan to join us for some of the activities planned throughout the season.

Happy summer!
