"Then Jesus, was led by the Spirit into the wilderness
to be tempted by the devil. He fasted forty days and forty nights, and
afterwards He was famished." We have entered the church season called Lent - a period of forty days to reflect on our own temptations, seek repentance for our sins, and gain a greater understanding of Christ's crucifixion. Lent is important because it helps us to focus on the sacrifice Christ made for each of us - paying the price for all of our sins. The significance of Christ's resurrection on Easter is deepened through our Lenten experience. As we journey through Lent and contemplate the ways we are tempted, we can find comfort in the fact that Jesus, too, was tempted. He understands what we experience when we feel drawn away from God's purpose for our lives. The good news is that Jesus did not succumb to the devil's challenges, and we can look to Him for strength in our daily living. Two Lenten programs that may be of interest are:
Also during Lent, discipleship classes will be held for youth and adults who are interested in baptism and/or church membership. Please contact me for more information.
