Heard Anything Good Lately?

Have you read the Bible from cover to cover, or maybe all of the New Testament? If you haven't, perhaps that is something on your wish list to do "when you have the time." Does sitting down each day with God's Word and attempting to read several chapters, perhaps struggling over some unfamiliar names or words, seem like a daunting task?  Many people find that to be true.

Scientists and educators have discovered that people learn in different ways ... some by seeing or reading, others through hearing or listening, while others through experience.  And reinforcement occurs when we encounter something in more than one way - so that it uses more than one of our senses.

During the 40 days of Lent (which begins on February 25) we will have the opportunity to hear the entire New Testament, 28 minutes each day.  Each family will receive an audio disc containing the entire New Testament in a dramatic presentation.  It will be in digital MP3 format, so it is quite portable - it can be listened to while commuting to work, preparing dinner, working out, or during a daily devotion time.

More information about this exciting opportunity will be provided during the worship services in the coming weeks.

After being in the wilderness for 40 days without food, the devil challenged Jesus to turn the stones into bread.  Jesus replied, "The scripture says, 'People cannot live on bread alone, but need every word that God speaks.'" (Matt 4:4 TEV) We have an opportunity to hear God's Word for ourselves.  The Apostle Paul wrote: "Faith comes from hearing the message." (Rom 10:17a).  Plan to invest 28 minutes each day during Lent hearing the message for you from God's Word.
